RE: Butterfly bush

Hi Deb, Since Butterfly bush (Buddleia davidii) blooms on NEW wood, you
need to prune it down to about knee high after all danger of frost has
passed. That way, you will have lots of new wood for the blooms to form on.
Also, if you don't prune it hard, you will have a 10-15' bush with the
flowers all way up on top where you can't get at them. So unless you want a
tree, prune it!

This past summer was my first for butterfly bush. I didn't cut it back in
the fall, and I'm not sure if I should cut it back now. Do you cut back
butterfly bush in general, or just leave it. I've made that dumb mistake
with too many things I've grown, and didn't check first before I cut it
back.

Thanks for the info.
