Those are annuals you're talking about, but will happily put in my 2 cents
worth, since some of them self seed enough to almost seem perennial.  The
moss rose (if you're talking about Portulaca) is best seeded outside, it
will come up beautifully! The same goes for the bachelor buttons.  Both of
these will self seed and return year after year.  I haven't tried the
cleome, but I've heard it works the same way.  I purchased my cleome at a
nursery last year, and loved it but moved away in July so I have no idea if
it will be returning this year.

I realize you were hoping to get a jump on the season, but really, the
bachelor button and portulaca come up so fast, you'll never know the
difference.  All I did was plant them once and I had flowers every summer
afterward.  Good luck!!
