Re: ground ivy was: worms /soil building


Yep, in addition to runners fast as greased lightening above and below
ground, it also seeds with abandon.

There are lots of other almost equally vigorous plants, more or less
depending on where you garden and what kind of conditions you give them. 
One, a really tough guy for dry shade, that comes to mind, is Lamiastrum
galeobdolon - the Yellow Archangel.  Marvelous for that horrid spot nothing
else will grow in, but don't let in near a nice rich border!

The warning note in nursery jargon is anything that sounds like "easy to
grow", "vigorous", "grows anywhere".  Always think twice about plants with
these descriptions, do your homework and then decide if you want/need it.
