Hmmm....F. imperialis - Crown Imperial - generally has a top knot of
flowers - somewhat outward facing, with a slight droop, when mature.
Sounds to me like some of the blooms have opened before the rest of them.
Usually, they all open at the same time. If this is the case, not to
worry, just give all of them time to open up.
bulb.com has a rather dark photo of one in bloom. Does yours look like
this?
