Good Day -
I know several of you have greenhouses and some of you have larger
growing facilities. Do any of you have automatic watering systems?
I have been working part-time at a hydroponic tomato grower. They
have 6 bays (greenhouses) with 4 double rows of tomatoes per bay. Each row
has 240 tomatoes. Since I started in Jan. they have been having a problem
getting everything getting everything watered/fed evenly.
A while back, someone thought to check the filters -- they were
totally plugged up! As a result, they have been cleaning out the regulators
that go to each plant. Every day they find a few more plugged. Today, they
took them all off!! Tried to tell them what would happen - The beginning of
the line is flooded and the end gets nothing. This system is programed to
come on 2 times an hour for 2-3 minutes.
Do any of you have an experience with similar systems, even on a
smaller scale or can you point me to somewhere that I can ask questions??
Please, please! I've been trying to find out where they got the equipment,
the supplier, or who makes it but, so far, no luck getting any such info.
Seems like their supplier should have some sort of Tech Support but they
don't seem to be getting any help from them that I can see.
Sorry about being OT but I think this is fascinating and, I hope, others
would have some interest in how greenhouse tomatoes are grown.
TIA and Best Wishes to you all --
