Re: Purple Loosestrife and other Invaders


Of course, we must remember that these plants are simply doing what 
they have evolved over countless generations to do; namely to exploit 
niches in the environment, whether it be due to invading disturbed 
habitats or places lacking natural predators or controlling agents. 
Now of course, the hand of man has entered into this, causing these 
events to occur over a much shorter time span (years) rather than 
millennia.  Imagine what would happen if something like the pink 
ladyslipper orchid had the ability to do this!
