Re: Purple Loosestrife and other Invaders
Bravo Don..
We forget that plants and or animals do not live and grow merely for the
use and pleasure of mankind ..
The will to live and multiply prevails over all of this planet and that
which inhabits it.
Natures plan following fire for example(which we have had a great deal
of here)the(humble but functional) pioneer plants will set in, mining the
minerals as they grow, over time(much longer than humans are willing to
wait)the 'higher' plants will follow.
Isnt it hilarious that as humans we find all this so threatening or
alien?(not the fire but plant invasiveness)
Heaven forbide fuana or flora defy our human schemes or convenience.
When indeed human intervention is the primary cause for it being out of
bounds in the first place..Ironic..
I know that we cannot/will not, turn back the clock,as that would mean
living a much more primitive life which few would allow or accept...
Having altered the course of nature to suit our own needs it appears we
have much to learn before we get it right.
I am trying to imagine your scenario with the Pink Lady slipper, since
they dont grow here could you enlighten me as to what you think would
happen.?(I assume that they are deemed so desireable that it would be
tolerated even encouraged despite the fact that they were invasive.)
