Slugs and Lobelia cardinalis

Following up my own posting about slugs attacking L. cardinalis, I
found just today that three out of four stems of my rather small
plant had been eaten through and were lying on the ground. I was
surprised that this should happen so late in the season and also
because, in fact, we have comparatively little slug activity in our garden.
L. cardinais must be a great gourmet delicacy for slugs!
