Having said that, are there any good reference books with information =
regarding starting various perennial plants from seed? Thanks a bunch.

Good books... I would recommend Deno's book. I don't have all the information on the book
but if you go to http://www.mallorn.com/lists/search.cgi and type in Deno.. you will
find all sorts of past email discussions on seed germination using or Deno's process.
Another source would be to query the Propagation Mailing list.
http://www.hort.com/lists/seeds-list/ or http://backyardgardener.com/seed.html link?
I would also do a search on above search.cgi on the terms Seed Germination Database or
Seed Database. The results will provide you some URL's to personal homepages with
hordes of information. One of them is http://backyardgardener.com/tm.html
Hope that helps
Duncan
