Holly is a native of wet places and will probably be OK. That it has lived
and thrived on a dry mountainside is a small and welcome miracle to me.
Those other shrubs are all tough plants but may not like being buried. A
few drain tiles might help them but better yet there are shrubs that like wet
places. The many beautiful cultivars and species of Viburnums are one,
Sambucus or elderberry another. There are some gorgeous cultuvars of
Sambucus, all wanting a damp place to do well.
