I have to smile at all the posts about heat from the NE and NW :-).
Those temps are what we in the South have lived with for all of July and now
going into August. Couple that with high humidity and no rain and it is
hard on plants and on people. I have just received in the mail a list of
drought tolerant plants for our area from the Extension Service. Fall will
be such a relief when it comes in October. I don't think I will ever get
'used to' our summers, even though I have lived in the South all my life
except for a brief time in the Chicago area during jr. hi, which was many
moons ago!!
I received my Fall Plant Delights catalog yesterday. There are several
new heucheras listed...FROSTED VIOLET, JADE GLOSS, RASPBERRY ICE, and
heucherella HEART OF DARKNESS. Is anyone familiar with these? FROSTED
VIOLET has pink-purple foliage. All of these were hybridized by Charles
Oliver--I don't know anything about him....?? I am going to try one of
these in the fall.
