Marge, I have a plant of Aralia racemosa a few years old, from Plant
Delights. I'd say the jury is still out...last year it was growing fine and
suddenly collapsed and never perked up for the rest of the season. (There may
have been a soccer ball incident.) This year it's growing fine and getting
ready to bloom, very unusual ball-shaped flowerheads in groups. I seem to
remember that it's supposed to be about 6 feet high, though, and mine is only
about 3 so far. I think it likes moisture and it hasn't been getting much,
so that may be why it's short. I didn't see the Horticulture article; I let
my subscription lapse in a fit of economy.
