Caryopteris is quite hardy here in zone 6b and I know someone growing a
handful of these plants in a borderline 6A/5B garden. So, yes, they are hardy
Though I've not had mine reseed or mysteriously move 4 feet. I've heard funny
things can happen in those zone 7 gardens.
I do cut back my Caryipteris to about 12/18 inches in early spring once I've
seen growth starting. Much like buddleia.
