Re: surviving the heat

I guess the key phrase there is - haven't even
watered-

Here we are in a major drought, at least in my town.
The ground here is so dry only those plants with long
tap roots are happy. I have tried watering (which is
something I rarely do) but it just doesn't seem to
help much.

My hydrangea's are weeping every night when I get
home, they look like they are taking their last
breath. Lost a few others, gentian, ferns, and others.
Some plants did a very fast bloom and are currently
looking like they are going dormant (wishful thinking
on my part?). My rudbeckia of all types are even
withering away.... Some of my trees appear to be
dieing off in section, hoping they are just converving
energy for next season...

The only plants thriving are my hardy hybiscus. They
are blooming their fool heads off! I can't think of
the proper name of it, something like Heliopsis
Loraine sunshine has been blooming most of the summer,
still looking good! The phlox is also holding up and
actually looks pretty good without the usual mildew.
