We had a terribly hot time of it in June - I ended up with a big water bill
even though I am not one to water a lot. Things got back to normal, but we
did have on/off heatwaves with some rain finally showing up in July. I've
watered once recently and most things are looking pretty good. In the
tenders bed the Plumbago is in full gloriously blue bloom and are
complemented by the blue-eyed, white African Daisies. The Acalypha have
filled out and the Tuberose should bloom very soon. Still only one bloom on
the Crossandra. The dark red sunflowers have begun to bloom - deep, dark
maroon with nearly black stems - a nice match for the Cordyline and the
Purple Fountain Grasses. It's full summer and yet suddenly fall is
looming 'round the corner. I'll have to dig the Colchicum next week.
