Good Gardening to you all, I'm new to the group by
a few days and I have a question I've not been able to
get a satisfacory answer to anywhere else.
Several years back we purchased a property, mostly
shade, and several were Juglans or walnut. I knew that
they produce Juglone, but wasn't sure of all the effects.
Any gardening problem I have, especially with every
variety of Astilbe, I have just chalked up to Juglone.
Now I'm beginning to wonder... I live in Indianapolis
zone 5. Even when it's fairly new in the growing
season, the astilbes have a burnt around the edges
look. And they never recover. Am I being overly
mean to the walnuts?
Tia and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
Hope I can soon return the favor.
