Thanks for this information. It really helps me to know it always needs
access to root moisture. Now I think I have a handle on what kind of
conditions to provide for this wayward child! While I'd enjoy the flowers,
it is really the leaf texture that fascinates me, so if I can keep it from
totally drying out by providing some organic material to act as a sponge, I
won't bitch *too* much if it doesn't flower prolifically. At least not
until I've figured out how to just keep it alive :-) I'm thinking good
organic clay based soil, well laced with granite grit and larger pieces of
gravel for sharp drainage, and wedge it between good sized rocks to hold in
soil moisture and make it think it's at home. No added fertilizer. Does
this sound the right track, considering my climate?
