John,  Other plants to consider for texture in your mini hosta garden
are the smaller Goat's Beards such as Aruncus aethusifolius - 8-12" tall
or A. astilboides, which is 18-24" tall.  I'm afraid I wasn't keeping
good records when I put mine in, but I'm pretty sure it's the
aethusifolius because it's only about 8-10" tall.  It's a very pretty,
feathery, but compact plant good for the front of the border.  I haven't
been following this thread too closely, so please pardon me if this
plant has already been suggested.
