Seed collecting

Hi everyone,

I am gradually building a really nice garden, and learning as I got
(many of you have been a great help in that area!).

I am wondering if there is a definitive book that talks about how to
collect seed, what to do with it once you've got it, etc. I would also
want it to address the issue of which plants propagate from seed versus
rhizome, etc.

One example: I purchased a native "shooting Star" (dodecatheon-- ?can't
recall variety??) this year, and after a wonderful bloom period, it
formed seed pods. I watched them age, and when the first one split, I
collected the others and now have them stored in a small glass jar. But
I don't know what to do next. Plant the seeds now? Store them until
fall? Chill them? etc.

Any suggestions, particularly re: a book, would be welcomed.
