Isabelle,

Your plant has already been correctly identified as Jewelweed or snapweed
and is probably Impatiens capensis or I. pallida.  And yes, this is the
same genus as our more common Garden Balsam (I. balsamina) and the Garden
Inpatiens (I. wallerana = I.sultanii).
