I wonder if the florist's ornithogalum is yet another species, neither nutans
nor umbellatum.  I've never seen nutans "in the flesh", though we have rampant
umbellatum here in Massachusetts.  I've seen some sort of ornithogalum in
arrangements and it does not resemble the photo of nutans in the Scheepers
catalog.  I notice they offer Ornithogalum arabicum, which they bill as a cut
flower and not winter hardy.  Maybe that's the one the florists use.  It's
quite lovely.
