Re: grass#*!?+*


I agree with Barb;  I much prefer a grass specific herbicide rather than 
Round-up in my perennial beds.  As has been pointed out, bermuda grass 
is nearly impossible to hand weed effectively.  Besides the roots that 
go down to Chinal, those stems are sharp!  Tears the h'%^$ out of your 
hands.  

I planted a new border this past spring, spent two months of weekends 
digging and sifting through the dirt by hand to get out all of the grass 
roots.  Then, I put down newspaper and mulch, and guess what?  Yep, 
still had grass!  But, I used one application of Poast, and that really 
helped.  It does take a week or two for the grass to die, and you do 
have the dead foliage to contend with, but once it's dead it's pretty 
easily removed.  Better living through chemistry...
