for your great lead on a local gardening list..I think my question is a
pretty general one, not area specific though.
Its the nitty gritty dirty what do I do type of things that make me wish
I had listened to my mother 40 years ago when she tried to had down her
gardening clues.
I am soon to retire, and my love of gardening has moved me away from the
petunias and pansies every spring type., to investing in some exotics,
making a clear space for natives and considering alpines too.
But eventually it all comes back to individual plants and questions <g>
Maybe I'll move half and leave half <g>.
This late spring I cut back half of a new to me, plant called Cerinthe.
It had become rather leggy and was starting to yellow at the base. It had
the most interesting almost bruised looking, sort of irridescent purple,
new grass green and pale yellow bracts and tiny purple blooms. It had
set these big black seeds.
About a month later, well into july, the cut back part rebloomed and set
more seed.
I have collected a bunch of it, and left some to self seed just to trial
it and see what happens. If you get a chance to try this plant, I'd go
for it.
It's a people on the street stopper.
"What the heck is that" they ask!

is a web site that has a good gif and story of it.
