Re:power washers & rose trellis

I understand your concern, but by cutting the existing shoots now, you run
the risk of stimulating new growth, which is much more suceptable to
winterkill.  I'd let the existing shoots take their chances.  The power
wash may shred their leaves, but there isn't much left of the growing
season anyway.  Also, if the trellis is natural wood, I wouldn't even
bother to stain it.
