Re: Rudbeckias and Coreopsis


What are the leaves like on your mystery plant?  More details, please!

As far as the rudbeckias are concerned:  R. fulgida has nice green leaves; R.
hirta has very coarse, hairy leaves that are prone to mildew.  Frankly,
they're fairly unattractive but the flowers are so great that I leave self-
seeded plants in all over.  They're quite good at self-seeding, by the way,
and show up in odd places.  Also, the flowers of R. hirta are larger and show
a lot of variation in coloring between gold and brown.
