Personally I would just forget about the bulbs unless they really are
very special or have sentimental value. Usually the time invested in
marking digging and replanting just is not well spent, particularly if
you are working with hard pack soil. Also this will give you the
opportunity to start from scratch using bulbs that go with your new
design. Lets face it too that bulbs after a period of years just do not
preform as they use too which is why every year we make supplemental
plantings or in some cases just use bulbs one season.
Most exhibition gardens do this routinely.
