Mums are great for cutting , easy to grow, flower naturally in
fall and come in all except the blue you mention. Lots of types,
forms etc. "Connecticut Yankee" delphiniums are a good solid blue and
will hold cut if treated with a proprietry silver nitrate solution,
otherwise they drop their petals in a few days.
