ground covers

Hi. Here's a new topic, or, rather, an old one: ground covers. What's new with ground covers these days? In and trendy? I'm growing ivy, bearberry (which I adore) and a whole lot of crabgrass. I think clematis could be a ground cover. What else are folks doing?
