Hummingbirds - What's in Bloom Now

Val:

I have 4 hummingbirds that regularly visit the feeders and fight and
chase each other continuously. I see them visiting the cleome (!), the
rubrum lilies, phlox and butterfly bush.

They regularly fly near me and chirp when the feeders have run out of
sugar water. Two days ago, I was in my little pool, doing my water
exercises when I felt something looking at me. Looked up and one of the
hummers was at the edge of the pool, starring at me. I looked at the
feeders and they had fluid in them. Then it dawned on me. She wanted
water.

Under a dogwood tree, I have a shallow bird bath and about 3 feet above
it, I've tied a plastic milk bottle in the tree above the bath. With a
tiny hole in the bottom and one in the lid, it slowly drips out, takes a
little over an hour. They zip in and out.
