Good question, Duncan. My reply is just a guess. I think that if you were
careful with the roots when you dug it up and then didn't let the roots dry
out during the week the bulb is out of the soil, there wouldn't be any
problem in blooming at all.
What I don't know is whether the bloom mechanism is so automatic-pilot-like
that a mere two weeks before bloom the bulb would go ahead and bloom anyway,
almost regardless of how it was treated. I suspect this is true, but it
might vary with the cultivar/species and the bloom might not be as good a
bloom as it would have been if left undisturbed.
