Merry Christmas to you all --
I received some seed pkts from Thompson & Morgan this week.
One of the items was Campanula Latifolia Amethyst.
The seed pkt says germination can take 1-3 months at 65-70F.
Is there anything I can do to speed up the process?
I suspect the seed is quite fine.
Will hot water help as suggested for the Asclepias?

Barbara:

Campanula latifolia is an easy, earm germinator, and unless seed is old, there is no reason why germination should take anywhere past 1 month.  Normally germination of this species should occur within 3 weeks, at most.

As to the Asclepias: the Swamp Milkweek  (A. incarnata) most definately  requires a cold period  as an initial treatment to  then germinate at warm following the cold. As to A. tuberosa---it will often give you sparse germination at warm (our experience has been anywhere from 20-40%), but for best results, provide an initial cold period as well, and then warm (for much higher germination percentages).

Cheers and Happy Holidays:
