Judy, If you knock your Streps out of the pots, you will probably see that
the little plants are coming from the roots. These can be pulled off and
put into small pots most any time of year. Their growth is quite vigorous
and they become pot bound quickly. I tear mine apart at least once a year.
Often I just throw away the largest, oldest parts and divide the rest,
making sure I get some young vigorous growth in each pot. That keeps them
from being so congested too - a condition the mealy bugs just love.

I have about 20 streps in pots under lights--and have a question besides
getting rid of the mealy bugs. (I'm going to try all the suggestions) Many
of them have tiny plants coming up from the soil around the big plants--do
you think they are seedlings or do they sometimes sprout little plants from
the roots. I'm wondering if I should transplant some of them---Thanks for
