RE: plant trek

Hi Claire,
Although the water gardeners are more into this type of thing... What the
Perennials Gardeners need to do is fine a place to list garden clubs with
open access. ( Hey Chris, you paying attention here, might be a nice add on
to the hort site) I have been to private homes from Arizona, to Florida, to
Michigan (sorry don't get out east much). Every vacation I check the club
guide and call the area we will be in. Of course you can not be shy, and I
have never been called that, but most times the club rep arranges five or
six members for you to visit while in town. Of course that always leads to
where did you find that plant... and off you go to the local garden center.
Can't remember a vacation that I did not come home with some kind of plant
treasure... Of course DH refuses to get on a plane (even before Sept 11), so
there is always room in the car for something :)

It is a nice arrangement... I have opened my yard up for out of state
visitors. Heck you do all that work, it is nice to be able to show it off
and talk gardening.

If you have enough people going, a bus is the only way to go! It really is
not that expensive around here, and with the price of gas, you are not
spending that much more. Besides, no one has to watch were they are going
while yapping away :)
