Exactly - very well said.  

I have a few species Hibiscus that have 'simply' beautiful blooms but alone 
they are not nearly as showy as the tropical 'large' blooming Hibiscus.  So 
many of them have pale colored petals with a rich deep colored centers.....By 
surrounding these Hibiscus with heavy blooming annuals and tenders the 
'simple' blooms really become showstoppers.

Canna's, Hibiscus, Salvia's, Brugmansia's, etc. are still going strong!
