I have grown Rose Campion and did not like it in my garden. I had the white
cultivar and both plants grew so huge a looked horrible by July. Keep in mind
that I have my own micro climate as we live on the South side of a hill so my
yard is much warmer than the folks across the street. I have seen Rose
Campion in other gardens and liked them. Perhaps if I cut them back some in
May they wouldn't have gotten so huge (they were at least four feet around and
three and a half feet high) or had them planted in a spot that got part shade
they wouldn't have looked as they did. They were planted in full sun (at
least 8 hrs of it).
I say, give them a try, what can it hurt?
