Re: Liriope & ophiopogon

I started Black Mondo Grass (Ophiopogon planiscapus 'nigrescens')
last fall from seed and the plant, only one to germinate, is very slow
growing, but showing new growth. I brought it in to a west facing kitchen
window for the winter and it seems happy enough there.
I don't know how to water it so I have opted to water occasionally. The
soil was just good garden soil with course sand - another guess on my part.

When the plant was outdoors, it was in afternoon sun and showing a lot of
new growth which unfortuately I kept pulling out because I thought it was a
weed growing in the pot. Took me awhile to catch on. The older leaves
mature to a beautiful purple/black while the new growth is a soft light
green - well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I know only that they are slow growing, won't winter over in the ground
here and that the Black Mondo, at least, is worth the wait.
