Re: Night Rescues and Cold Solstice

This cold snap is back to normal for the Midwest; to think that a week
and a half ago, I saw dandelions blooming and the mailman in shorts!

I dug up the last of the carrots a week ago and put them in peat moss in
the cellar 'fridge to see how they fare with this method. Even tho this
is the shortest day of the year, the amaryllis bulbs are putting up
their flower buds.

I made cuttings of buddleias and rooted them in little trays in an old
aquarium under lights. Most of them "took" and now need potting up--hope
I can get them thru the rest of the winter!

A miniaature rose I received as a present is not doing well--it's soil
is damp, it's in an east facing window, but it looks wilty. Could the
several burning scented candles in this room be affecting it? Any
thoughts on this?
