Source of hellebore seed

For a wholesale source of hellebore seed you could try Ashwood
Nurseries. Contact is John Massey or Philip Baulk, they do not have
email or a website (as far as I know) but they can be faxed at (from
the US) 011 44 1384 401108 or their phone number is 011 44 1384
401996.

>Hello Marilyn,
> I, too, have the Gardener's Guide to Growing Hellebores by G. Rice & E.
>Strangman. Kind of my bible on Hellebores. I had information on the book about
>Helen Ballard's strains of hellebores and lost it somewhere in all
>these piles of
>papers and folders called the 2000 catalog. The book on Helen
>Ballard is available
>from the North American Rock Garden Society book store, I have been advised.
>Ordered seeds from her hybrids under color names about 2 years ago. Be a while
>before they are ready to make the transition to the nursery. I hold mine until
>they are at or near blooming age.
> I made the mistake to counting on US wholesale sources this year
>to expand my
>catalog beyond my seed grown plants and ended up short on inventory in the
>hellebore department.
> This coming year I will have H. foetidus, H. foetidus Wesker
>Fisk, H. niger
>Sunset Red (from Will McLewin seeds) There may be more show up on the web site
>during the year as I am still looking for wholesale sources... at wholesale
>prices.
> Agree with you on hellebores in the winter garden.... can not
>have a garden
>without them. Would you care to expand a bit and tells us what you use as
>companion plants?
