Re: Dianthus question

Anelle;
    Depending on which zone you are in, Dianthus are very easy to grow. Sow
seeds outside in spring or summer up to months before frost or sow indoors,
maintaining a temperature within the medium of 70 degrees during germination
which takes 14 - 21 days. D. barbatus may be treated as an annual and if so
should be started indoors in early spring. it usually germinates in 5 - 10
days. Plants like full sun to light shade and sandy well drained soil that
is slightly alkaline. Hope this helps
Jean
