Re: fertilizing

I don't think that she ever addressed anything but perennials.  I could be
wrong, though.  I think that I should re-read the book to find out.  I read
it last year, but some details are sketchy now.  Perhaps someone else could
help us here?

As for me, I give extra fertilizer to my dahlias and lilies.  Both like an
extra boost when they are actively growing and blooming.  Dahlias are
especially heavy feeders to develop those huge blooms that they've been
hybridized for.  Since my tender perennials (tropical) are potted, I try to
change the soil every year so they get a boost then when I incorporate
compost/leaf mold and a slow-release fertilizer.  It makes such a
difference because everytime you water, you leach nutrients from the soil
and it gets depleted rather quickly.

But to answer your question, I can't remember reading about anything but
in-ground perennials in her book.
