Plants should be small when planted and you do not want to break any of the
roots-site location is important-well drained and sunny-were they will be
long lived and if the ground is open they will self sow.
If you want to try them and your soils are on the damper side- I would make a
1 foot tall or more pile made up of 1/2 granite grit and 1/2 heavy sandy loam
soil. Boarder it with medium sized rocks. if you air isheavy and wet- you
ight not have a good chance- these are plants from airid regions but are very
cold hardy.
