The original article that I read said up to four months of bract color. That
is probably a stretch but two months would be great. 'Empty Feelings' is
sort of nuts, I agree. There are fanciers of green flowers and brown
flowers. I don't want to put a lot of effort into green or brown flowers but
apparently some do.
In one of the Sackville-West/Nichols collections of letters, Harold is
complaining that Vita has accomplished nearly everything she wishes with
plants others can grow and is now interested in only green or brown flowers.
So it must be a gardener come to full maturity and bored with geraniums. She
did not have the wide choices we have in 2003. She also had a tremendous
curiosity and was fearless when trying new things.
