Re: [perennials] - perennials in containers

In northern Wisconsin, Lamium is picking up popularity in pots. Many are
using it for hanging baskets. They cut it back for the winter, hibernate it,
bring it out in spring and it flowers all season. Very deer resistant too.

So thoughts folks? Anyone doing this?
Have some large planters that are kept for a few years that have perennials
in them and in the spring are filled with annuals and placed on the patio.
Use
short growing hems, Viola corsica, Lamium, lamastrium, Vinca major and
minor, nepeta. When fall comes the pots just are moved under the tarps with
all
the other potted plants, the "annuals" all die but the perennials make it
over
  the winter.
