We have not had really good luck using either in "full" sun in zone 5
with a south facing hillside, even with a tickle irrigation system they
burn up-they do not die just do not preform well.We ended up moving them
to another border areas.
Since you are using lavender why not continue the theme with other showy
herbs which thrive in full sun. Some are extremely showy and are
excellent border plants as found in many of the old english gardens often
used in conjunction with roses. Without knowing more we are reluctant to
suggest specifics.
