Re: aconites

Dear Helen,

The aconites were here when we moved in 7 years ago. Unfortunately they
were in an area that I wanted to turn into a shade garden. I thought that I
could simply dig out these little bulbs and that would be that. Well, I
decided that I would till the area and rake them out. What I ended up doing
was cutting the little buggers into who knows how many pieces--and they
loved it!! They also seed prolifically. They are in an area of deciduous
shade. Full sun until the trees leaf out and then only morning sun.
Average moisture, but soil is amended regularly with compost and then
mulched.

I can't eradicate these. They are pretty now, but will choke out other more
desirable plants. Write me directly for more.
