Hi,
Our yard had English Ivy in several large areas. It was so thick my husband
just rolled it up like a carpet, form the edge in. The birds still plant the
seeds of it and there are places where it keeps coming back. But if you can
manually clean it up and then spray whenever new sprouts are visible, you
should be able to control it.
One comment though - he removed all the ivy under one of our
pyracanthas; we have 3. The pyracantha, 10' around and high, died in less
than a season. I think the vine was beneficial to the root system of the
pyracantha. It was the only one the winter birds feasted on, they left and
still leave the other 2 alone. That's just an observation.
