I use the used carpet to cover my potted plants, a layer of straw first then a
sheet of plastic and then a layer of carpet. Has worked very well for me the
last two years.
I use carpet to grow my potted plants on-works a lot better than plastic or
rock at keeping the weeds down and the growing areas moist but not wet when it
rains and helps moderate the high temps of summer. ( also makes a good
kneeling pad when weeding the pots).
