Sheryl,
The information you want is out there, but the topic is too broad
they way you've put the query:-)
You'd need to get more specific as to which herbs you were interested
in. Once a plant's botanical name is known, it's native habitat can
be found and once that is known, the information on the climate,
soil, weather and other factors affecting 'growing conditions' can be
researched. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of herbs from
just about every part of the world....
But, if you don't know these herb web sites, they might be helpful to
you:
Henriette's Herbal Homepage http://metalab.unc.edu/herbmed/ - lots
of links to herb sites
Southwest School of Botanical Medicine
http://chili.rt66.com/hrbmoore/HOMEPAGE/ - many images and links to
other herbal information, primarily for medicinal use, but a lot of
info.
A Modern Herbal http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/mgmh.html
Plant Index with information on 800 plants - the links page has
a huge list of herb and other links
You can probably find much of the information you're seeking by going
through the links on these pages - at least what parts of the world
the plants of interest to you came from.
