Pat: If you take a look at some of the vehicles out there the prices are
crazy...but that's what they are, they do not even negotiate anymore. Almost
three year's ago we had to break down and purchase a "newer" vehcicle - we
were in an 88 Jeep and a 90 Suburban...both still looked and ran beautifully
but having two small children and traveling from Texas to Florida alone with
them justified something newer....my husband nearly fell over at the cost. I
guess this is what happens when you are go shopping every 10-12 years.
As far as what I would spend for a plant-----I'm very much like Don - depends
on the plant and the addiction. The most I've ever paid was for an an orchid
and it wasn't even for me. My Mom-n-Law was writing a paper on the Cattleya
warnerie 'alba' (she was working up to becoming a Judge). I hunted it down
and found it at one location and had it sent to her for Christmas---she was
thrilled, and this was before I was introduced to the net. It's been five
(so so) years and the plant is thriving and blooming faithfully.
