Donna: I live in the Gulf Coast, Zone 9, just west of Houston---I plant my
Hollyhocks, Foxgloves, Delphiniums and Larkspur in mid-October........I never
protect them from freezing temps or anything. By late March they are either
in full bloom or getting there. I generally do not start to fertlize any of
them until the end of February/early March, depending on the winter we are
having.
All of these usually die or look bad enough to get rid of by late May. They
are pulled out to make way for my semi-tropicals that are just coming out of
dormancy.
